A Heart Check-Up

Lord, I give my heart to you.

Help me never hide the dark places of struggles I have sometimes from you.

I hear you telling me to be real about everything with no shame. I hear you telling me to just be me, the imperfect woman that I am. When I try to be anything other than who I was created to be, that's when my heart is deceived, and my motives are impure. Lord, only you can fix the offenses I have in my heart. I confess, there are times I try to keep them covered up. It’s easier than putting them all out there. But today I give them to you. I give myself to you just as I am, and I pray that you make me new today.

Thank you for a brand-new start. Keep my heart and motives pure. Thank you, God, for a clean heart and a renewed and steadfast spirit.

Even during the times I think I'm on the right path and I'm doing what seems right to me (Prov 16:2), I'm asking for you to weigh my motives and lead me to the way of everlasting righteousness (Ps 139:24). I pray that I live according to your word every day.

So, God, keep me from selfish ambition or vain conceit but instead keep me in humility so that I value others above myself (Phil 2:3).
