Willing to Obey

Lord, to love you is to obey you and you and Jesus will make our home with those who do (John 14:24).

God, I confess, today is probably the first time I have fully come to realize that I have not surrendered my whole self to you. I know I’ve held back on (____), and it keeps me from being willingly and willfully obedient. So Holy Spirit, I am asking that you would reveal the truth to me on areas I'm holding back on for you to do heart surgery. I want to serve you and obey you fully, God, and I acknowledge I can't do that if I am still holding areas of myself from you.

God, help me to surrender and to trust your timing. Help me to stand firm and be still while you work (Ex 14:14). Give me an obedient and willing spirit.

Okay, God, I do trust you, but sometimes I feel like all I do is wait for you, and to be honest, I don't always want to wait. Quite frankly, I don’t get it, but I know your way will produce far better results than when I try to do it my way and fail at it big time.

Lord, I want to live off your promises and eat of the good things of the land, but it requires me to be willing and obedient (Isa 1:19). Give me a spirit to obey quickly, without hesitation, and Holy Spirit, help me to walk in obedience so that it may go well with me (Jer 7:23).

Lord, I love you and I will obey your commands (John 14:21).

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen!
